Today, your strength and weight training workouts are often more intense, with stronger and longer-lasting congestion than ever before. As you know, muscle congestion is synonymous with exercise intensity and muscle growth.

It is where the dilation of blood vessels causes the flow of nutrients and metabolism to speed up. Energy exchanges follow one another to adapt to the intensity of the exercises. At this time, muscle congestion is the strongest.

Today, bodybuilders and other bodybuilding enthusiasts can count on their Nitric Oxide booster, a supplement based on nutrients and natural substances that stimulate muscle congestion during training.

Performance Lab boosters potentiate muscle congestion and strength.

Nitric Oxide (NO) is a small molecule in our body that stimulates vasodilation and muscle congestion. Precursors like L-Arginine and Citrulline are among the amino acids that promote this congestion with an acceleration of the intensity of the exercises.

NO Boosters also contain a large dose of stimulants to boost the nervous system, strength, endurance, and reduce fatigue. Available in powder or capsules, creatine is also part of many NO Boosters for its role in ATP recycling. However,

Pre-workout without creatine are available in the Performance lab.

Pre-workouts without creatine are an option for people who want to achieve the maximum training effect without using stimulants such as creatine.

The composition of this type of supplement is based on caffeine and guarana, which provide stimulation, add energy, and increase the body’s efficiency.

At the same time, metabolism is increasing. Mitochondria, rich in muscle cells, carry out the process of cellular respiration more efficiently.

During the Krebs cycle (citric acid cycle), energy molecules are formed, stored in ATP (adenosine triphosphate) molecules. ATP is used by muscle tissue. Thanks to these energy carriers, muscles can actively contract and relax.

When training is inadequate to the mitochondria’s energy production capacity, it creates an oxygen debt. Then the muscles refuse to obey.

Creatine-free pre-workouts improve exercise, make workouts last longer, and postpone the moment when the muscles stop working efficiently due to fatigue.

Creatine-free nutrients increase the amount of blood that flows through the muscles. It means that the muscle fibers are better oxygenated and nourished, and therefore their functionality is higher.

The greater the supply of life-giving fluid, the muscles receive more oxygen molecules necessary for the proper course of the Krebs cycle.

In addition, research has shown that increased oxygen supply to the muscles causes new mitochondria. Because more structures carry out cellular respiration, the muscles work more efficiently, do not get tired, and build up.

The anabolic processes are therefore increased while increasing the amount of fat burned. Pre-workouts without creatine protect the muscles against the excessive accumulation of hydrogen ions generated during the Krebs cycle. Hydrogen ions cause muscle acidification and the appearance of unpleasant pain within them, which makes it impossible to train for the next few days.

Pre-workouts without creatine and other stimulants positively affect maintaining homeostasis – acid-base balance in the body. Thanks to this, the body will be energetic, lively for a long time, and will not get tired quickly.

Indeed, if you are not already taking creatine in another form or at another time, taking more with your booster would not be useful. In this case, we will offer you several Booster formulas richer in stimulants or pure NO Pre-workout without creatine or caffeine to help you stimulate muscle congestion.

2. BiotechUSA

BiotechUSA offers with its Black Blood an ultra-concentrated Pre-workout without creatine capable of meeting the requirements of the most experienced athletes!

Apart from the large dose of caffeine in each quantity (200 mg), all the ingredients have been selected for their substantial effects on the body and the muscles.

This booster contains, in particular, beta-alanine, citrulline, niacin, vitamin B6, and it is guaranteed without sugar. Thanks to it, muscle congestion, growth, definition, concentration, vigilance, and motivation are increased, enough to destroy each training.

In addition, with its small dose of Tribulus Terrestris, it also promotes a greater secretion of testosterone!

My opinion: Black Blood is not a pre-workout that can be described. It is rather a booster that is felt! It has an optimized formula, with all the ingredients interacting with each other. Every time I take it, I am always blown away by the energy boost and muscle congestion it provides me within training.

Each time, I feel like I’m doing it! It is probably the most effective one that I have been able to test so far, and it is also so powerful that I would say that it is rather reserved for athletes who are already used to boosters. If you are in this category, then know that this one puts everyone else down!

3. Optimum Nutrition

The Pre-Workout Gold Standard opts for a formula that is both simple and effective, ideal for giving a boost before a workout. Each dose provides 175 mg of caffeine (obtained from responsible circuits), one of the most natural ingredients to recover energy quickly. But it also contains 3g of creatine monohydrate to feel stronger, more powerful, and more efficient immediately.

The formula is also supplemented with beta-alanine, citrulline, vitamins B1, B3, B5, B6, and B12, and of course, some fruity aromas (red fruit lemonade, green apple, etc.) for a pleasant taste. Everything is therefore done so as not to miss out on training!

My opinion: With this booster from Optimum Nutrition, we are on both subtle and healthy composition, which makes me think it is probably the most suitable Pre-workout without creatine for all athletes who do not yet have one. It never took it.

Far from being too soft, it offers a good boost of energy but is also not too powerful to the point of preventing falling asleep if you’re not used to it, for example.

As often with the supplements of this brand which is one of my favorites, the powder mixes more easily, and the taste is not chemical at all. For a first pre-workout try, this is the one I will recommend without hesitation!

3. Steel Supplements Pumped

Steel Supplements Pumped Pre-Workout is based on an optimal combination of ingredients to offer all athletes who want it a drink capable of significantly improving their athletic performance in the event of fatigue.

This booster contains, in particular, caffeine for the rapid energy it provides, but also essential amino acids (the famous BCAAs, here at a 2: 1: 1 ratio) to accelerate recovery times, arginine and citrulline for a better supply of nutrients as well as beta-alanine to delay loss of motivation.

Energy stimulants are natural (guarana and Rhodiola), flavors, and sweeteners (stevia), and no sugar has been added.

My opinion: What I like the most about this Steel Supplements Pumped booster from Vegavero is that it combines both a classic and effective formula with natural ingredients. We will only claim in terms of a champion. It is as powerful as others, but it defends itself very well, and it is more than sufficient, especially if you do not want to disturb your nights.

In the sports supplementation, it is always important not to consume anything, but it is even better if we also pay attention to the origin of the ingredients. And there, I was seduced by the fact that the brand opted for natural caffeine and that it did not neglect amino acids. For vegan athletes and others, it is, therefore, an alternative that I can recommend!

4. MuscleTech

This Vapor X5 Next Gen is a booster capable of providing a saving dose of strength, power, and concentration to face training! It contains all the classic ingredients such as beta-alanine, citrulline, taurine, and creatine, which provide energy and endurance, or even caffeine to give more motivation and to be much more focused on the exercises.

The brand has also integrated a unique blend of choline, theanine, and galangal to feel real stimulation during a workout. It offers in a pot of about 230 g for 30 doses. In particular, the fruity flavors have finally been favored to taste it, namely blue raspberry and fruit punch.

My opinion: MuscleTech’s pre-workout is what I would describe them as good value for money. If it is not as excellent as BiotechUSA in congestion and concentration, the formula is correct, and the effects felt are still interesting. So he’s doing well overall.

The powder mixes up faster, and although it tastes a bit chemical, I didn’t find it offensive or too sweet. And its obvious advantage is its low price. If you’re the type who only uses boosters as a last resort and don’t feel like spending too much money on it, this product is probably the one for you!

5. BSN

It is the latest version of BSN’s NO-Xplode pre-workout, one of the most famous on the market. For several years, it has constantly been renewing itself to offer athletes ever more effects, particularly an acceleration of muscle building, an increase in congestion, and a reduction in recovery times.

This version 3.0 contains, for example, 150 mg of caffeine per dose, 150 g of taurine as well as all the amino acids essential for a product of this type, such as beta-alanine, creatine, choline, and a good dose of vitamins (C, D, B1, B3, B6, B9, B12). Its 50-dose jar is finally available in always fresh and original flavors such as green apple or watermelon.

My opinion: The NO-Xplode is not a booster I need to present: it is one of the best known, and few people find it ineffective! I will not contradict anyone because it is also a Pre-workout with creatine that I like a lot, as much for the good boost it gives as for its green apple taste.

Some will tell you that BSN is not the best in terms of flavors, but honestly, I like this scent quite well: it’s refreshing and goes nickel! If this NO-Xplode is not yet part of the pre-workouts you have tested, then I can only encourage you to give it a try!

How to choose the right pre-workout?

If you want to boost your training, you might as well do it! Depending on the ingredients used, pre-workouts may act differently. If you want to achieve a specific effect (more concentration, more strength, better recovery, etc.), then here are the ingredients to favor!

  • Stimulation: Caffeine is obviously the key ingredient, and that’s why most pre-workouts include it. But L-tyrosine can also be a good option to stay perfectly focused during training.
  • Congestion: For good muscle congestion during exercise, the booster must absolutely contain citrulline and/or arginine.
  • Endurance: If you also want your pre-workout to help you surpass yourself, beta-alanine and L-ornithine are the two ingredients that are able to optimize your endurance.
  • Strength: To avoid backing down from a heavy load, choose a booster that contains creatine (preferably monohydrate) and/or taurine.
  • Muscle growth: To gain your muscle, the pre-workout must not ignore BCAA and, why not, be equipped with a few fast-absorbing carbohydrates!

Conclusion

Almost all preworkout supplements contain creatine, which seems to boost energy production in muscle cells and also seems to draw fluids from the blood plasma into the skeletal muscle, which can improve muscle performance. However, creatine must be taken regularly in order to “build up” to sufficient levels.

Creatine and Whey Protein: Should You Take Both?

Conclusion

Creatine-free pre-workouts are systematically gaining popularity and are increasingly sought after. The potential of creatine does not raise any doubts – it is probably the best researched and most often included in supplementation plans.

It is also a very common ingredient in pre-workout supplements. And here comes the problem – it may turn out that pre-workout with creatine will interfere with other nutrients that also contain creatine. In addition, many people decide to regularly take creatine in doses precisely tailored to their individual needs.
